Center for Developmentally Disabled (CDD) is dedicated to supporting persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities in achieving their fullest potential.  We are committed to helping individuals acquire skills and supports that encourage independent living, community inclusion, and/or working competitively.  The rights and privileges of people with developmental and intellectual disabilities are both respected and encouraged.


The Community Integration Direct Support Professional works in partnership with individuals supported to find desirable, meaningful social and leisure activities which match their interests, and facilitate the individual's engagement in those activities.  These activities may include socializing, activities related to hobbies, religious activities, civic or volunteer activities, etc. 


Essential Functions


Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions


         Supports persons served in their homes and in the community, including providing transportation as needed to support their community integration goals.

         Documents information about the supports provided in a timely and factual manner, using person first language

         Ensures that services are delivered in accordance with the individual's person centered plan to support progress toward their personal outcomes

Supervisory Responsibility


This position has no supervisory responsibility.


Work Environment


This job operates in the community setting, in a variety of environments, including individual's natural homes and public venues.


Physical Demands


The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, climb or bend.  The employee must constantly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work


This is a part-time position.  Days and hours of work vary depending on the individuals served availability and preference. 




Travel will be required regularly within the Kansas City metropolitan area. 


Required Education and/or Eligibility Qualifications


         High School Diploma or GED  

         Ability to pass criminal/registry background screening

         Must be at least 18 years old

         Have a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and valid proof of insurance

         Ability to pass adult CPR and First Aid Classes


Preferred Education and Experience


         Familiarity with principles of community-based services for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

         At least 1 year experience providing supports that foster community integration for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
