LEAD DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL-EVENING

General Statement  of  Duties:

Functions as the team leader for other Programmers and supervises staff in the absence of the Manager; responsibilities include the care, health, safety and welfare of individual and the home environment; assists Manager with scheduling staff, overseeing staff programming duties, new staff orientation, and on-call responsibilities; works closely with the Program Facilitator in developing, implementing,   documenting,   and evaluating  each  individual's  Annual  Plan; implements person served training and documentation  for each  objective as outlined in individual Annual Plans; supervises and assists individual with domestic duties such as vacuuming, cleaning, laundry, cooking and shopping; and, coordinates recreational  activities; It is the responsibility of each hourly paid employee to document his/her time worked by following electronic time-keeping procedures.    The Lead Programmer is directly supervised by the Manager and jointly evaluated by Manager and DDP.

Examples  of  Official  Duties:

-   Ensures that Program Log forms are filled out properly and filed;

-   Functions as lead trainer, assisting staff with implementing and documenting

     achievement of Annual Plan objectives;

-   Suggests  changes  in  program  method  to  reflect  individual's  needs;

-  Documents  on  Monthly  Reviews  by  writing  progress  notes  on  each  individual's Annual Plan objectives;

-   Implements  training  as  outlined  in  individual's  Annual  Plan  for  objectives  in areas including but are not           limited to:

1.      personal management - hygiene, clothing care and health

2.     domestic skills - cooking, cleaning and household management

3.     academic skills - reading, writing and math

4.     money management - budgeting, shopping and personal priorities

5.     transportation skills - appropriate behavior, and getting to and from activities,   either  by  van,   metro  bus  or  other  modes  of  transportation;

-  Completes domestic duties when individual refuses or is unable to do so adequately;

-  Assist with maintaining individual Case Records;

-  Completes Personal Interview and Personal Profile forms to assist with individual's  Annual  Plan  process;

    Supervises and monitors individuals in taking medication and obtains medical treatment for illness or injuries;

     Assist with arranging social activities, shopping trips and accompanies individual when needed;

-  Reports/documents needed repairs;

    Attends meetings, pre-service and in-service training as scheduled;

-   Intervenes in individual behavior problems when necessary;

-   Transports clients  when necessary;

-  Writes  Event  Reports  as necessary;

-   Is willing to work a flexible schedule;

-   Completes other duties as assigned.

Duties  Specific  to  Group  Living  Program:

-  Assists individual with domestic duties that include but not limited to

1.     ensuring that individual rooms have been cleaned, dusted, vacuumed, beds made, and

2.     ensuring that individual clothing and bedding are washed regularly.

 

Duties Specific to Supported Living Program:

-  Assists individual with domestic duties that include but not limited to

1.     cleaning apartments

2.     wiping down appliances

3.     ensuring that all bathroom fixtures are clean

4.     ensuring the individual are buying and eating healthy foods

5.     providing transportation for individual shopping.

 

Requirements

High School diploma or G.E.D.; previous experience working directly with persons with  MR/DD;   ability  to  read,  write,  speak  and  understand  English;   ability  to  pass training courses in medication administration, First Aid and CPR;  ability to complete "medium work," exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 20 lbs.  of  force  frequently,   and/or  up  to  10  lbs.  of  force  constantly;   ability  to document  behaviors  and  implement  individual's  individual  plan;   assist  with personal hygiene, cooking, community activities,  etc...;  ability  to  follow  oral and written instructions; willingness to accept changes in schedule and function; ability to cook, clean and perform basic household tasks; has a valid Missouri Chauffeur's  License  or  Kansas  Class  C  Licenses,   to  drive  agency  vehicles  and maintain a clear motor vehicle record; have  no  criminal  record  relating  to felonies against persons.

Preferred Experience and Training

Possesses certifications or evidence of training in MR/DD field; has two years previous experience working in field; possesses ability to document  services;  has the ability to process the outcomes of training procedures, and alter training strategies in order to meet objectives; and, has programmatic  skills to  isolate which life skill deficiencies inhibit independence or program progress.
