We are looking for Direct Support Professionals who truly find helping people rewarding. We have opportunities to "give back" to supported individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities, mental illness and/or physical disabilities. CDD homes support all levels of independent living. Our DSPs can choose to work with individuals who need total care (changing briefs, lifts, tube feeding etc.) to individuals who live in their own apartment and are looking for a mentor and companion (various housekeeping tasks, meal preparation, activities). Shift differentials are provided for 

$0.52 for staff who drive

$1.50 for working weekend shifts

$2.00 more per hour for working at a specific home

 (location, weekend, holiday, driver). CDD started in Kansas City in 1972 and we pride ourselves on a fun, supportive working environment and are intentional about engaging our staff and individuals. Reports to




Functions as a part-time direct care staff assisting with service delivery by implementing and documenting each individual's programs as outlined on their Annual Plans. The DSP will work in conjunction with the Lead Direct Support Professional and the DDP in assisting with the development, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of each individual's Person Centered.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct training as outlined in Person Centered Plans to include but not limited to hygiene care, monitoring clothing care and use, meal planning, cooking, budgeting and shopping;
  • Complete T-Logs during each shift worked;
  • Documents performance on training outcomes as outlined in program strategies;
  • Monitors individuals' Person Center Plans to ensure accurate implementation, on-going progress, and timely and accurate required documentation;
  • Completes Personal Interview and Personal Profile forms to assist with annual plan process;
  • Completes necessary documentation needed for the Annual Person Centered Plan packets;
  • Supervise and monitor individuals in taking medications and obtaining medical treatment for illness or injuries;
  • Check homes and/or apartments for overall maintenance needs and documents needed repairs;
  • Assists with completing domestic duties when an individual refuses, is unable, or does not complete the duties in a satisfactory manner which include but is not limited to vacuuming, dusting, cleaning bathroom and kitchen areas, laundry, etc;
  • Assist and teach individuals with learning other modes of transportation such riding the Metro bus or share-a-fare;
  • Attend scheduled meetings, pre-service and in-service training and complete certification training as scheduled;
  • Writes and submits Event Reports;
  • Perform accurate time and attendance procedures by clocking in and out of shifts as required;
  • Provides companionship, emotional support, behavioral crisis intervention, and behavioral counseling to individuals;

This position as no supervisory responsibility

Work Environment

This job operates in a group home type setting and will require exposure to human elements such as (blood, urine, etc.). This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, climb or bend. The employee must constantly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Also requires stepping up into commercial passenger vans.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a part time position. Days and hours of work vary and is less than 32 hours per week.


May include driving throughout the metropolitan area as needed

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma/GED

Preferred Education and Experience

  • One year of related experience
